A Diamond in the Ruff

Yes, it has been a very long time since I've posted, but I'm here now! Well, a lot of things have happened and we are very excited! Recently we found out our apartment rent was going up and Adam and I did not like that at all. We really didn't like the idea of renting and throwing our money away, so we decided to start looking for our first house. Monday, we sent an email to Adam's Uncle who's a realtor and by Friday we were looking at our first houses. Looking for a house can be very emotional! We thought we had found something Friday, but I wasn't completely sold on it (I didn't have that feeling), I also said that night that I really think there is a diamond in the rough out there somewhere and we had just not found it yet.

Saturday was a completely different story. We had a couple of houses to look at and the last house we looked at was a WINNER! Adam and I definatly had that feeling of "this is it" as soon as we walked in the front door. It is a beautiful remodeled home that is in a very established and appealing neighborhood. I believe that it is absolutly PERFECT for us. So, to make a long story short, we decided to make an offer on it because we knew it would be gone very fast! Come to find out, there was already an offer on it by other potential buyers. BUMMER! But, we decided to at least give it a chance and make an offer...well, Saturday night we faxed the offer in and we won't know until probably Monday afternoon if the sellers have accepted it or not. The other potential buyers could counter our offer in which case we would back out of it. This house is definately the "diamond in the ruff" I was talking about and Adam and I are praying hard that everything will work out to our advantage.

We also need all the prayer we can get because I truly believe in the power of prayer and everything that it can do. Please pray that if is God's will that we have this house we would continue to have the wisdom we need in making our decisions; if it is not His will, pray that He would clearly close the door and that we would understand. We definatly want Him to be glorified throughout this process and it is our promise that He will be glorified through everything we do and everything we have. We are very excited about all this and hopefully we will have some good news Monday or Tuesday! We'll see!

Happy 2008!

Well, this begins another year for us! It's hard to believe it's already 2008! This year has got a lot to prove to beat 2007! I mean, 2007 will be a hard year to beat...I graduated, Adam and I got married, started my first real job, had our first Thanksgiving/Christmas together as a married couple, etc. I do have high hopes for this year and look forward to the days ahead!

Off the subject, Adam bought him and I a devotional book to help us go through the bible. I was really excited when he showed it to me because it looks really good. Today I read about hope and Noah and the hope God sent Noah by when the dove brought back an olive branch to show there was land somewhere. It also gave examples of how we can be hope to others by living as Christ followers. I really gained more perspective of the "Noah and the Ark" story by kind of looking at in a different point of view. Just something to think about!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Well, the past couple of days have been so much fun being able to hang out with family and friends that we really don't get to do during the week. It all started this past Friday when my Dad's side of the family celebrated Christmas together (you never know what's going to happen when we all get together), then Saturday we went up to Adam's Uncle's house in Asheville to celebrate with his Dad's side of the family. This was a very special time because it was Adam's Uncle and Aunt's first Christmas without their daughter Jessica. There were some tears shed, but we could not be happier to know that she is with the Lord celebrating in heaven!
Sunday was the BIG church service at Cricket Arena that had over 5500 people worshiping the Lord! Needless to say, it was AMAZING! Sunday night Adam's parents had their Christmas party with his Dad's accountability group and their families. It was really fun to hang out with friends. Monday was Christmas Eve and yes, we did do some last minute Christmas Eve shopping! After that we went over to Adam's parent's house to have dinner with both sets of his grandparents, my mom, his brother and parents. Adam and I exchanged gifts that night and we each got one present from his parents. My present was the coolest! I had a letter to read from "Santa", and in the letter it told me to open this present. I did and there was a cap and gown in it. As the letter went on it told me to look under their couch and I found my diploma framed in a beautiful frame! Then all of a sudden I heard the "graduation song" in the background and everyone started clapping and crying! If you didn't know the story before, I had a hard time graduating in May and it turns out I did graduate in May, but did not know I did until July. So since I found out so late I was unable to walk across the stage. Well, last night I got my chance to walk and to finally graduate! And let me tell you, that was the funnest graduation I have ever been to and the most special! (And did I mention I didn't have to wait 3 hours to hear my name?) So that night was very special to me.
We spent the night Christmas Eve with Adam's parents and woke up to find that Santa had been there last night! After we looked through all our things, we got ready and went to my Uncle's house for my mom's side of the family's Christmas. We had a lot of fun and I was able to do my "graduation walk" for them also which was special to my mom and to me! We are getting ready to head over to my mom's house to hang out for a little bit then it's home to get some much needed rest!
This was a very busy Christmas, but it was also an unforgettable one because it was our first Christmas as Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton!! I'm so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man! Well, I hope everyone has had an amazing Christmas with family and friends, but most importantly, celebrating our Lord's birth! Merry Christmas!
